Lucy Silchester works for a job that she doesn't like, constantly fixes her car, feeds her cat, and sacrifices her time for her family dramas. Getting exasperated with her, Lucy's life summons her for an appointment. Initially, she ignores the letters, but she has to meet him. Life is a black headed man, with a disheveled appearance and clammy hands. Despite this, he is determined to change her and follows her everywhere, from her office, to the bar, to her bedroom. He questions Lucy's choices and threatens to expose her half-truths and lies, unless Lucy reveals the herself.
The Time of My Life is a touching, thought provoking story. A well written story, with romance and comedy, it manages to ask some important questions. The starting was a trying and it took a lot of patience to sit down and read. But once you make time to do that and read the first few chapters, you are hooked for the rest of the book. The book has some unique ideas and it takes time to get the hang of the concept. I believe the setting is real but characters are fictional and it does have some quirky rules and twists. These are rather like the ones we see in cartoons, but they play an important role in engaging the reader and making the plot better. The book is more like a fantasy, but frankly, I LOVED IT. For reference, I usually hate fantasy, as I have little imagination as a reader. But this was awesome! It may be a bit heavy for new readers, but otherwise, its a top recommendation for every reader looking for a comedy with a takeaway.
