Five Have Plenty Of Fun ( 14 ) - Enid Blyton
The famous five consists of siblings Julian, Dick, Anne, and their cousin George with Timmy the dog. The five are at Kirrin for the last few weeks of their holidays. Suddenly, Uncle Quentin's American colleague announces that he is sending his daughter to stay at Kirrin. Mr. Wright has been threatened of kidnapping his only daughter Berta, in ransom for their project's secrets. To protect her, he wants to send her somewhere safe, and the five are the only children he knows in England. To keep the suspicions away, they dress Berta as a boy, and call her Lesley, making George hate her, because she looks more like a boy. A few days later, George doesn't appear for breakfast. Julian concludes that she was kidnapped. His uncle and aunt are away, and the telephone line is cut. Are Uncle Quentin's secrets safe? Where should they put Berta? And how can they get George back?
