Five On A Hike Together ( 10 ) - Enid Blyton

The famous five consists of siblings Julian, Dick, Anne, and their cousin George with Timmy the dog. The five have planned a hiking trip in the countryside for a few days. Timmy hurts himself, and Julian and George take him to Mr. Gaston. A man who is good with dogs. Dick and Anne are supposed to go to Blue Pond Farmhouse, where they will stay at night. In the darkness, the two lose their way and reach an old hut. Anne sleeps in a tiny room, while Dick has to sleep in a barn. At night, he receives a queer message. 'Two Trees, Gloomy Water, Saucy Jane, and Maggie knows'. Along with a paper. He puzzles over it later with the others. They work out that the message was given by an escaped prisoner. So it must be important. But what does this mean? Who are these people? And why won't the police take any notice of them?
