Fifth Formers of St. Clare's ( 8 ) - Enid Blyton

It's Mirabel's dream come true when she is declared Sports Captain of the whole school even though she is a fifth former. All of the form is allowed to share studies with a friend and get the younger girls to clean their boots or put on the kettle. Angela intends to make full use of this provision. Gladys is deputy for her bestie Mirabel, and soon observes that power has gone to her head. To make things worse, Alison and Anne-Marie are idolizing the English mistress Miss Wilcox. It is also clear that some studies buddies are not exactly close. They must work things out or they will be a fine row.

I found it quite annoying to see Alison's custom of idolizing people again. As this series is supposed to be around the twins, its weird that they are pushed into the background in so many books. Mirabel and Angela's change was not expected and I don't understand it. Anne-Marie made this book much better with her conflicts and plans. I also loved the addition of Claudine's sister Antoinette. I felt Alma and Felicity's addition was unnecessary. It is a pretty long book and not very entertaining, Overall, this is my least favorite St. Clare book and much below my expectations.
