Summer Term at St. Clare's ( 3 ) - Enid Blyton

Pat and Isabel return to their school a week late, only to find that there are five new girls in the first form. There is Carlotta, a wild Spanish girl, Prudence, a goody-goody girl, Pam, a young scholar, Sadie, an American who cares for nothing but her looks, and Bobby, a don't-care, mischievous tomboy. Carlotta is adored by everyone despite her hot temper and Prudence detests this. She is determined to get Carlotta into trouble. no matter what, and forces Pam to be friends with her. Bobby is good at lessons and sports, but her attitude rules her and she spends a lot of her time playing tricks. Sadie has palled up with the twin's cousin Alison, but has a bad influence on her despite her good nature. With all these personalities on board, the summer term seems to be a promising term.

Summer Term at St. Clare's is my favorite book from this series and what makes it interesting is the mixture of these characters. You can relate with many sides of the girls and develop real emotions for them. I think my favorite character's were Carlotta and Bobby. They have actual flaws and feel things so deeply. I loved their bubbly, don't-carish personality. Yet they know how to apologize and respect what others feel about them. I also saw Miss Theobald as a life changer in this book. If there is one thing you should take away from this book, it would be this. Just because people like you, it doesn't make you perfect or the best person in the room. You can always extend your horizons and do some more. If you have potential, use it to the full, or there's no point having it. This is a lesson Blyton taught me, but I have not applied it fully. (This is not an extract from the book, but something I collected from the book and have written in my words)
