Second Form at Malory Towers ( 2 ) - Enid Blyton

Darrel is in the second form, with new girls- Belinda, Daphne, and Ellen. Belinda, in no time becomes a favorite among the girls due to her talent in drawing and scatterbrain ways. Ellen is an irritable scholarship girl, who isn't clever, but very hard working. Daphne is a rich girl, who is spoilt and makes friends with Gwen, who sucks up to her at once. Things take a turn when money goes missing and Alicia spots Ellen snooping around. Ellen has no clue she is suspected. How will she confront the girls when they accuse her?

This book was quite touching and funny. The drama and suspense is on point. I found myself drawn to the characters. Some of the characters really stood out and their layers were heart-warming. They are flawed, which makes them relatable and lovable. The pranks are hilarious. I loved the bond between the girls and Mam'zelle Dupont, the French teacher. It makes for a good children's book. But unfortunately, I didn't find it as good as the first book. There isn't much personal development in most of this book nor any good advice. I find that the stereotypical scatterbrain girls, naughty girls, selfish girl, jealous girl gets a little out of hand and very boring. I didn't really connect with any of the new characters as well. I feel the series would have been just as epic without this one.
