Every December, Josie posts a letter saying Missing you, always, to the parents she lost on Christmas night years ago. But this year, she collides with a handsome stranger- Max. Coincidences leads them to spending the holiday together. Aglow with new love, Josie thinks this might be the start of something special. Only for Max to disappear without saying goodbye. Over the course of the next year, Max and Josie meet in places they never expect. And it turns out, Max had every reason to leave and every reason to stay. But what does fate hold for Josie and Max as Christmas approaches again?
I got through this book around 45% and decided to DNF it as I just couldn't get beyond it. I had been stuck on the same chapter for more than a week and attempting to read it felt a big chore, hence the DNF. I don't want to give spoilers, but from other reviews that I read after DNFing, this book is not the light hearted romance i was hoping for. The cover, blurb, and beginning of the book give no hint that this is not a happy ending book, and that's where I think I was let down. Basically, this was not what I was expecting and I lost interest because I didn't get what i wanted. I would have forced myself to continue reading if it weren't for the reviews (which by the way, are pretty good). When I first requested the book, there weren't many reviews available, so I went by the details that i had. Nevertheless, I guess if you are looking for an emotional, bittersweet romance filled with sadness, you can go give this a try. I received a free e-ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and Random House Publishing group. All opinions published in this review are solely mine.
