I've Got Your Number - Sophie Kinsella

When Poppy Wyatt looses her precious wedding ring- a possession of her her fiancé's family for generations- and her phone get's stolen, she is desperate for a new number for her lost and found mission. On finding a mobile in a trash can, Poppy embarks on her aim to hide her left hand until she finds her ring. Only problem- the owner of the company phone Sam Roxton doesn't appreciate Poppy reading his personal and work mails on the phone, and demands for it to be returned. When they make deal, they don't realize how that mobile would change their lives.

This is a such a brilliant book that will be adored by every rom-com lover. It is a typical Kinsella novel that I would say that it's on the same level as Twenties Girl, one of my favorite rom-coms. With a seemingly simple plotline, Kinsella has penned two opposite characters in this story. Poppy is eager-to-please, thinks too much and cares a lot about others' feelings. Sam is straightforward, blunt, and a no-nonsense person. If you want an example of the 'rubbing off each other's corners' concept, this is a great one. Both main character's are on extreme ends and neither are perfect, but during the course of the book, as they meddle with each others lives, changing in subtle yet huge ways. As an avid reader of Kinsella's works, I find that usually, the focus is on a single protagonist and the secondary characters and/or love interest gets overshadowed. But in this one, I think both got equal limelight. Backstory has a big role in building a person's character, but this is one of the few books where the author has used the character's present conditions and little or no backstory to make them flawed, but likeable at the same time. If you are new to this genre or author, this book is a good place to start.
