4/5 stars
OK, this is much better than what I expected! Idk where to start, so let's go to the beginning
Lana's story starting with a breakup was such a cliche, I actually paused reading for a week before coming back. And don't regret it. The tension literally skyrockets the moment Seth enters and you can't help but watch with baited breath. The chemistry between Lana and Seth Is fire.
Seth is Lana's hot first love, turned up at work while they are both forced to compete for their dream job. This is my no means a fair and friendly contest with the intimate, compelling challenges they have been listed. At the end of 10 weeks, the reader of the ATF will choose the winner and candidate for the job.
Yes, this is a full combo of second chance romance, enemies to lovers AND forced proximity all rolled in one. You can expect some steamy romance while Ballard takes 'heartwarming' to the next level with her sweet descriptions and swoon worthy scenes. No kidding, she's got all the good stuff, from their knack in pressing the other's buttons to love confessions that make you go awww. For once the intimacy didn't make me cringe but just idolize this pair even more.
Then why four stars?
First- I hated Natasha. How does Lana worship her? The only perfect match for this manipulative boss is Rapunzel's evil mother from Tangled.
Secondly, I was hoping for a deeper and juicier backstory than the one presented in the story, although I'll be the first to admit that it was realistic.
And I didn't understand the relevance of the title of the book, so I'm confused. Also to put it out there, this cover is a beauty to say in the least, I'm sure you will agree.
So I hope I've convinced you to buy a copy of Just My Type coz this brilliant book deserves a place on your bookshelf.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for the early review copy in exchange for an honest review.
