This book is a mix between a military suspense and a romance. It's not breezy or light-hearted in my opinion. There's a good deal of pent-up angst from years ago but also depiction of the MCs' perception of the incident and how it shaped them. I don't have any military background, but I do think many parts of this were quite unrealistic. I didn't love the pacing or the way the storyline progressed, but I won't lie, the writing wasn't bad, and I was entertained for most of the it.
