All In - Emma Scott

Should've done a more thorough vetting before I picked this book up. This book is from a two-part series, and I haven't read the first. Both books have the same FMC Kacey, with Jonah being the MMC in the first, and the second follows after his death where MMC is his brother Theo. Put simply, it is Kacey's love stories with two brothers. The whole thing made me a little uncomfortable, especially the fact that Theo had loved Kacey from before Jonah's death and Jonah knew it.

Despite this I cannot ignore the fact that the story writing is beautiful and captivating. I was hooked to the story. Certain side plots too made the story more readable for me, things such as the character arcs and both MCs' careers. I enjoyed how their relationships with their families evolved over the period of time, and those scenes stood out to me really well. Did I love the love and chemistry? Not really. All I saw was two individuals who got along well and now understand each other in the face of the loss of one of the most important people in their lives. The alcoholism part felt too glossed over and unrealistically done in my opinion.

I'd say the narration was pretty ok on this one. I'm not bursting with praise for it, but there is nothing to criticize either. It just wasn't very memorable. Perhaps I'd have liked this more if I'd read the first book before this one.
