Singing to the Sun - Regina Rodríguez Sirvent

This was a very interesting listen that I very much enjoyed. Rita was a lovely protagonist to follow. She's this goofy mess that makes the page light up with activity. The trajectory the story took was not one I predicted, but I have no complains. This book is heartfelt, emotional, feel-good, and a read that I didn't know I needed until I was knee deep in.

Rita's story is one of joy and self-discovery by the means of happy accidents. Slowly but steadily, I fell in love with even all of the side characters. Regina Rodríguez Sirvent truly has a knack for writing children that warm your heart and feel so earnest and pure. All of this was only accentuated by the brilliant translation by Beth Fowler. The writing was so good that it wouldn't be easy to clock that it wasn't the original manuscript. If understood Catalan and could read the original version, I surely would. The perfect cherry on the cake was Elena Rey's amazing narration that perfectly encapsulated the buzzing energy of every character and their diverse backgrounds. If you have the opportunity to get your hand on the audiobook, please do!

Of all the books I've read, Rita most reminds me of Becky Bloomwood from the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. She is reminiscent of the same chaotic fun that reading Becky's adventures bought me, so if you're a fan of the series, you should give this book a try!
