The Last Page - Katie Holt

This book had such a strong and captivating start with the introduction of Ella, the bookshop, and eventually Henry. Most of the story is set in the bookshop I have to say that The Last Page is truly a booklover's dream to work at. I loved the premise of the story and every single character in the book. The book sellers who were all hired by Leo to manage the store all form this beautiful found family, and it's wonderful that so much of the story is just made by their interactions. I loved seeing Ella's vibrant household back at her parent's place too, and I think the author did a great job of characterization so many unique and memorable people.

My biggest complaint with this book is with the romance itself. It ramps up out of nowhere from being extremely slow burn, to there being only spicy scenes and towards the end, there is hardly any of the beautiful plot that made most of the core of the story. For a reader like me, it was the part of the story that got me invested in the relationship between Ella and Henry, but what the author does with the romance was disappointing to me. It made me put down the book for days and I had to force myself to pick it back up and finally finish the last agonizing pages (pun intended).

A beautiful touch in the book was the many, many book recommendations and mentions made throughout. While I haven't read most, the descriptions of some intrigued me, and I've added them to my TBR.
